Feline Serum Albumin (FSA)

Feline serum albumin (FSA) is an albumin derived from cats. It contains a single polypeptide with 584 amino acids. According to reports, FSA has high sequence homology with canine serum albumin (CSA), while its dynamic changes are similar to those of human serum albumin (HSA) and bovine serum albumin (BSA).

Application of Feline Serum Albumin (FSA)

Human serum albumin (HSA) is used in veterinary treatment to increase albumin levels and osmotic pressure in critically ill dogs and cats, but it is costly and may lead to allergic problems. Replacing HSA with other animal albumins can be an alternative solution. Against this background, the use of genetic engineering procedures to recombine FSA (rFSA) has emerged.
