Feline Interferon-ω (IFN-ω)

Application of Feline Interferon omega (IFN-ω)

Interferon alpha (IFN-α) is a cytokine that is produced mainly by plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs), and it plays a vital role in innate immunity against viral infection.

Virbagen Omega consists of recombinant feline interferon omega (RFeIFN-ω), also taked as a recombinant form of cat IFN-α. RFeIFN-ω is effective in treating a range of viral diseases in (like cats and dogs), including feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), feline leukemia virus (FeLV), and canine parvovirus in many countries.

Virbagen is derived from silkworm larvae using a baculovirus vector. Novel feIFN-ω proteins produced in Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Pichia pastoris (P. pastoris) are currently under pre-clinical research and have shown promising potential as effective therapeutic agents for treating viral infections in pet cats.
