Canine Serum Albumin (CSA)

Canine serum albumin (CSA) is a type of albumin derived from dogs. It contains a single polypeptide with 584 amino acids. It is suitable for treating hypovolemic shock or hypoalbuminemia, regardless of its etiology. Canine albumin treatment applies to dogs.

Application of Canine Serum Albumin (CSA)

Human serum albumin (HSA) is used in veterinary treatment to increase albumin levels and osmotic pressure in critically ill dogs and cats. Canine albumin is a safer alternative to plasma and human serum albumin, suitable for treating dogs with hypovolemic shock or hypoalbuminemia, regardless of the etiology. However, animal-purified serum albumin is costly and may lead to allergic problems. The use of genetic engineering procedures to recombine CSA (rCSA) can meet this challenge.
